Capstone project

Ayubowan Island Tea –
Branding and Digital Marketing

Responsive design

Ayubowan Island Tea is a digital branding and marketing campaign created to introduce a family-owned Sri Lankan tea brand to the Global market. The brand promotes sustainability, ethical trade, and cultural authenticity. The campaign highlights the unique heritage of Sri Lankan tea while positioning the product for a modern and conscious audience.

The project includes a full visual identity, digital marketing assets and a landing page. Through mood boarding, logo development, mock-ups, and campaign design, the project brings the story of Ayubowan Island Tea to life with intention and heart.

Moodboard

Moodboard

I started by collecting inspiration to set the visual tone for the brand. My moodboard focused on warm, earthy tones, tropical imagery, and elegant typefaces that reflect both tradition and freshness. The intention was to capture a sense of serenity and cultural depth, while appealing to a modern, health-conscious audience.

The branding process began with sketching out ideas that would express the brand’s soul, its connection to nature, tradition, and ethical values. I developed a logo inspired by Sri Lankan symbols and natural forms, exploring several variations before selecting the final version. The color palette features rich greens, golds, and browns to reflect both the lush tea gardens and the brand’s premium quality.

Social Media Advert

To support the product launch, I created a social media advertisement introducing the Discovery Box. The ad highlights the key benefits of the tea selection while capturing attention with bold visuals and brand messaging. The call-to-action encourages users to explore the tea experience.

Landing Page

The “Shop Now” button in the social media ad links directly to the landing page, which I designed in Adobe XD. This page is focused on one clear goal: helping users purchase the Discovery Box. I used storytelling, product highlights, and trust-building elements like testimonials and sustainable sourcing details. The layout is responsive and clean, ensuring an easy path from interest to conversion.

Product & Brand Mockups

To visualize the brand across different touchpoints, I created mock-ups including the Discovery Box packaging, branded teacup, and business card. These materials bring the identity to life and show how the brand can create a consistent experience from digital to physical.

Lessons Learned

Throughout the project, I learned the value of balancing creativity with strategy. This wasn’t just about making things look good, it was about telling a story, building a connection, and designing with purpose. I also became more confident working in Adobe XD, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Canva, and applying feedback to refine my ideas. This experience confirmed my passion for visual storytelling and gave me a clearer vision of the type of work I want to do moving forward.
