Patel Medical
Patel Medical is a medical appointment booking website designed for a doctor’s clinic. Built with PHP, the platform simplifies the scheduling process by allowing patients to book in-person or virtual consultations effortlessly. With a user-friendly interface, the website ensures seamless appointment management, enhancing the experience for both patients and the doctor.
The website addresses the growing demand for accessible healthcare by providing a convenient online solution. It improves patient engagement, enhances clinic visibility, and simplifies scheduling through an intuitive interface.
Research & MVP Development
The MVP focused on essential features: user registration, login, and appointment booking, all built with PHP and MySQL.
For registration, I created a simple HTML form to collect patient details, ensuring server-side validation for empty fields and valid email formats. Passwords were securely hashed before storing them in the database.
The login system authenticated users by verifying credentials against stored hashed passwords. Once logged in, session variables maintained authentication across pages.
The booking system lets patients choose their appointment type, date, and time, storing details in the database while checking for conflicts to prevent double bookings.
To enhance usability, I added form validation and error handling, ensuring users received clear feedback on invalid entries or unavailable slots.
This MVP provides a seamless experience and a strong foundation for future improvements, such as doctor availability tracking and automated email notifications.
Enhancements & Feature Expansion
To make the doctor appointment booking system more user-friendly, I focused on improving the overall experience and adding key features. I used a mood board to shape the design, ensuring it felt professional, trustworthy, and easy to navigate. The medical-themed logo, Roboto typography, and a balanced color palette of blue, red, teal, black, and white helped create a cohesive look. Thoughtfully chosen images, button styles, and icons enhanced accessibility, making the platform welcoming for patients.
Building on the MVP, I kept the design consistent while introducing new features. One major addition was an API for blog updates, allowing the clinic to share helpful health information with patients.
Brand Collaterals
In this project, I created a business card for a doctor and a mug design to showcase branding consistency and professional identity. The goal was to design a clean, modern, and visually appealing business card that effectively conveys the doctor’s contact information and specialization. The mug design complements the brand identity, reinforcing a professional yet approachable image.
Testing & Optimization
To ensure functionality and accessibility, I conducted usability testing and validated the site using WAVE for accessibility compliance. I reviewed the website’s heading structure for SEO optimization and performed user testing to identify areas for improvement. Adjustments were made based on feedback to improve navigation, responsiveness, and overall user experience.
Finalization & Deployment
After implementing all features and resolving minor issues, the website was finalized and prepared for deployment. The project successfully met its goal of providing an efficient, user-friendly platform for medical appointment booking. It enhances patient convenience, improves clinic operations, and expands the reach of quality healthcare services.
