Michelle Beaule

Digital Design + Development Advanced Diploma (Development Stream)
2019

My name is Michelle Beaule. I am from Comox and I am in the Advanced Communication and Interactive Design program. Before North Island College, I was attending Highland Secondary in the Comox Valley. In my program, I enjoyed learning about both design and programming in one program. I also liked how we learned about many different programming languages.

The biggest thing I have learned from the program is time management due to juggling homework, attending classes, and working part-time. After graduation, I plan to continue working at my part-time job and to create a small game development studio with my brother. We already have a few ideas lined up and we are excited to start making some games. My favourite courses were Analog Photography because I enjoyed learning how to develop film and photos in the darkroom, and Android App Development because it was fun to make a functional app that I could test out on my phone.

Mech Arena

The project I am displaying in the showcase is a short video game called Mech Arena. It’s a 3D single-player game made in the Unreal Engine. In it you can control a robot and battle an opponent’s robot in a turn-based 1v1 duel.
