Alissia Hoorn

Communication Design Diploma
2021

Trust The Process, The Sky Is The Limit.

I’m curious, creative and interested in travel, nature and the digital arts. After several years spent in Europe working and travelling, I gained international experiences in the workforce and culture.
I decided to return to Vancouver Island to finish my education in Graphic Design at NIC, VIU, and a UI/UX distance course at Athabasca University. My focus after graduation is to live a flexible lifestyle, continue to explore the world, connect with family friends and earn a living by being creative.

Alissia Hoorn's project

Strathcona Wilderness Institute

This project presents a new and modern take on Strathcona Wilderness Institute’s packaging, brand book, and website design. The project portfolio consists of a completely new and modern brand identity which includes a new logo, packaging solutions, a brand style guide and a new website. Strathcona is a park located on Mount Washington and the SWI offers interpretative services and educational workshops to visitors throughout the year.

I chose to do this project in my final year of college to build a unique portfolio and to come up with a solution to benefit this organization. Based on my experience working as a representative of the Institute, I understood that a more informative website would alleviate many questions frequently asked by the general public. I decided to build a new and modern website for the SWI, as well as a new logo and featured products for the webshop.
